In September 1972, according to the order of the USSR Ministry of Health No. 16232 from 25.08.1972, there was established the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology of the Faculty of Pediatrics in Vinnytsia Medical Institute named after M. I. Pirogov, headed by MD Professor Ivan Prokopovich Homeniuk (1972-1989).

In 1988 Associate Professor Klyeban Vladimir Vasilievich served as the Head of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology. In 1989 the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Faculty of Pediatrics was reorganized in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology No. 2 headed by MD, Professor Anatoly Nikiforovich Haystruk (1989-2009).

From 1st September 2009 Acting Head of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology No. 2 was MD, professor Bulavenko Olga Vasilyevna.

At present at the department work 7 MD, 2 professors, 7 associate professors, 8 assistant professors, 3 senior laboratory technicians and two laboratories.

Heads of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology over the years of the existence of the department:

Homenyuk Ivan Prokopovych (1972-1988);
Haystruk Aanatoly Nikiforovich (1989-2009);
Bulavenko Olga Vasilievna (since 2009).
