The Department of Internal and Family Medicine is located on the basis of CPMSD No. 2 in Vinnytsia. On the main base (CPMSD No. 2), the following premises are available: office of the head of the department, 6 classrooms and clinical-diagnostic gastroenterological laboratory which consists of 2 rooms. In addition, students are also trained on the basis of CPMSD of Vinnytsia district, general practice outpatient clinic – family medicine of Luka-Meleshkivska. In the research center of the university the department has 2 rooms as a part of a clinical-diagnostic gastroenterological laboratory.

 

 

The department first started working, according to the decision of the Academic Council of the University, from 1994-1995 academic year under the name “Department of Outpatient Therapy”. The department, since its inception, was headed by Professor, MD Chernobrovy Vyacheslav Mykolayovych, until his death on August 24, 2019. Currently the head of the department is Professor Paliy Irina Gordiyivna. The teaching staff of the department at its creation was represented by: associate professor Brovko Alina Kharitonovna (worked at the department until 2000), associate professor Pivtorak Natalia Anatolivna, assistant Melashchenko Sergey Grigorovich (since 2005 — associate professor). From 1996 to 2019, Leonid V. Chereshnyuk worked as an associate professor. The course of general physiotherapy and balneology was taught by Assoc. Doroshenko Ivan Ivanovich (worked at the department until 2000). Since the creation of the department, it includes Paliy Iryna Hordiivna, who went from assistant to professor of the department. According to the “Concept of Health Development of the Population of Ukraine”, approved by the Decree of the President of Ukraine of December 7, 2000. No. 1313/2000 and the Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of 20.06.2000 “On comprehensive measures for the introduction of family medicine in the health care system of Ukraine”, the department became a leader in the training of interns in the specialty “General Practice — Family Medicine” and was named “Department of Outpatient Therapy and Family Medicine”, which in 2008, by decision of the Academic Council, was changed to “Department of Internal and Family Medicine”.

 

Currently, the staff of the department comprises prof. Paliy Iryna Hordiivna, Zaika Serhiy Volodymyrovych (assistant since 2001, doctor of medical sciences since 2010, associate professor since 2012), Pivtorak Natalia Anatolivna, Melashchenko Serhiy Hryhorovych ( associate professor since 2005), Chernova Inna Vyacheslavivna (assistant since 2007, associate professor since 2014), Fedzhaga Iryna Volodymyrivna (assistant since 2007, associate professor since 2013), Ksenchyn Oleh Oleksandrovych (assistant since 2013), Yankovetska Alla Hryhorivna (assistant since 2018).

 

In 2017 a new elective course for medical universities of Ukraine “Current Issues of Gastroenterology” was introduced at the department.
